I. Introduction to performance:
PBI is the highest level of engineering plastics today: super high temperature resistance (high temperature long-term working temperature of 310℃, instantaneous tolerance temperature up to 760℃, thermal deformation temperature of 425℃), high wear resistance, high strength, high rigidity, very low linear expansion coefficient, excellent resistance to high-energy radiation, low flammability, and low exhaust.
The main features are as follows:
1. Corrosion resistance: stable characteristics also can be maintained in the acid and alkali environment.
2. High strength: its strength is twice that of VESPEL product, which is the highest strength product in the existing engineering plastics.
3. High hardness: its hardness is half of the glass.
4. High purity ash content can be controlled below 2ppm. It is suitable for semiconductor industry and special glass industry, where the performance of plastic products is high.
5. Features: the maximum allowable use temperature in the air is very high (it can continue to work under 310℃, and the maximum use temperature can reach 500℃ in a short time).
6. Excellent mechanical strength and stiffness retaining force, excellent wear resistance and friction performance, extremely low linear thermal expansion coefficient, inherent low flammability, high purity in the environment of ion pollution, and low exhaust (dry material).
7. Due to the superior performance, PBI is likely to find the best solution in areas where other plastics are not possible.
II. Application fields:
PBI is often used to manufacture extremely demanding components to reduce maintenance costs and to provide the longest service life. The applications established include semiconductor and aerospace industries, high temperature contactors for incandescent or fluorescent lamps, such as vacuum cups, pushers and cages, electrical contactors, etc. The disadvantage is that the ability to withstand high temperature steam is insufficient, and the performance is reduced after absorbing water.
